It pretty much goes without saying that sports cars are some of the most expensive cars to insure. The premiums can be seriously killer. The engines are large, they are made for fast driving — and car insurance companies are very well aware of that. They know that it means drivers of sports cars have a higher risk for getting tickets — or getting into accidents.
It may surprise you to know that full sized SUVs are also expensive to insure. This is mainly because they are large and, if you happen to get into an accident with one of them, the damage they cause could be exponential. As well, their parts cost a lot to replace.
Luxury vehicles, such as BMWs, Jaguars, Lexus’, and brands of that nature are expensive to insure as well, for the same reasons as SUVs and sports cars.
